DIY Miniature Pyrex Bowl

diy miniature pyrex

I love it when an idea I have works out.

I saw this packaging and thought "Hey, I bet I could do something with that." And then I did.  I cut out the littlest square making sure to leave some "handles".

Then I painted the inside with white paint and the outside with my cherry red nail polish.

What do you think?

Trash To Treasure: Miniature Art Work

trash to treasure miniature art

This magazine was given to me.  Which makes for free miniature art.  I cut out my favorite pieces.

Then I backed them with a cereal box.

The largest piece is my favorite!  I love, love it!

diy miniature laundry basket

Also, you'll notice in this scene, I made a laundry basket out of a lid from a mouth wash bottle.

Free, is my favorite kind of minis.

Miniature Scene

miniature scene

I made a new permanent scene over the weekend.  I've had this wooden box in a junk drawer holding pens and pencils for years and only recently saw it as a possible mini room box.

miniature scene

I used my favorite "wallpaper".  But I do have enough of it to make some "paintings" later.  And for those who are new here, the picture is a print-off, the plant is a bead with a cut piece of fish tank plant, the bottles are also beads and the lamp is a chess piece with a painted applesauce snack cap.  Also, the carpet is a cut peace of carpet sample.

Hope you like it.

Getting Organized

organizing miniatures

I was complaining to my husband about not being able to work on my miniatures because in order to find anything, I have to haul every bit of it out.  Well, a while back he gifted me his old tool box to store my crafts.  Up until today I'd been using to store my paper crafts for my junk journals.  Today he told me he could get me drawer dividers for the tool box and that it would work better for my miniatures.  So pretty much all day, I've been switching everything over.  Above is one of the drawer dividers he gave me.

miniature pillows

It also has some smaller drawers that work better for my larger groupings like these pillows.

And it has some deeper drawers for the furniture.

unconventional "dolls"

My "dolls" are somewhat unconventional...

organizing the craft space

As you can see, I still have a ways to go.  And for those who don't know, this is the room I use for our homeschool and the closet is my craft storage.  I have a large cabinet in there as well that will be the new home for my paper crafts.

How are you craft spaces?  I'm betting neater and more organized than mine at the moment!

Trash To Treasure: DIY Miniature Chair

diy mini chair

I'm very happy with myself at the moment.  I wasn't certain it would work out but I am pleased with the results of my new chair.

This is how is started.  I cut it from an old softener bottle.

Then I covered it with an old rag with tacky glue.

Last, I added legs and a pillow.  So what do you think?

Miniature Dollhouse

DIY miniature dollhouse

So, I am trying to make a miniature dollhouse.  I want to keep it simple.  This is what I've come up with so far.  I think there are some ways that I can improve it.  Maybe paint it white with a dark gray roof?  Suggestions?

Playing Around With Some Of The New Minis

miniature living room

I've been playing around with some of the new minis trying to get ideas.

miniature shelf

One idea I have is that I don't like the side walls to be white and want to paint them.  But what color?  It would have to be a neutral color to work with different minis.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I know these new chairs are meant to be garden furniture, but I love this one in this living room scene.

Another Miniature Lamp

Diy Miniature lamp

I made another lamp to add to my collection.  This one has a more modern feel in my opinion.

I made it out of another lid and one of my mini candle holders.

mini dream catcher

I also found a dream-catcher necklace at a 2nd hand shop  for a quarter and love it for my minis.

In other news, for those who don't know, my husband is in a couple of local bands and us band wives decided to get together for a craft club on the nights that the bands have practice.  Our most recent one, we made junk journal covers and will be adding the paper to them later.

Here are a couple of our covers.  I will post the finished products as soon as they are done.

crafty mess

It's fun being messy.

One of the wives brought boxes full of craft supplies for us to use and in my exploring I found a few things that would be great for my miniatures and she gifted them to me!

new gifted minis

Look at all the pretties!!  I am so excited to use these new minis!

Miniature Office

miniature office

Not certain that there is a theme here.  Mostly eclectic I believe.

miniature bits and pieces

Lots of just random bits and pieces.

miniature desk

I did make a little tablet out of an advertisement.  And you may notice that the time on the tablet and the time on the clock do not match up.  Oops.

miniature shelf

I really need to get on to making new miniatures.  My scenes are starting to feel too similar.

Miniature Digital Clock and Some Boho Wall Art

diy miniature digital clock

I'm working on an office scene and wanted to make a digital clock for the desk.  So I found this image in an advertisement with plans to attach it to a small wooden block.  But I oopsed and cut it wrong...so I had to find another image in another advertisement.

miniature digital clock

It will do for now I suppose.

boho wall art

Also, I found this nifty little thing for the wall.  Can you guess what it is?

earrings as miniatures

It's an earring.  Found them in the clearance isle for $1.

Hopefully, I will have the full results of the office scene for you all soon.

DIY Miniature Books

Do you remember those advertisements you'd find in magazines for books?  I got this one from an old magazine and thought I could maybe use them as book covers.

miniature books

The sides and backs are blank, but the fronts look pretty good I think.  The insides are just foam board.  They won't work on a bookshelf but they can be placed on a desk or nightstand.  Not to bad for free.

Dollar General Miniatures

Dollar General Miniatures

Someone on one of my Facebook dollhouse fan pages mentioned that Dollar General had some $1 miniatures so I had to go take a look and look at what I found!  I would have gotten a lot more if I had the money at the time.

boy and girl dolls

I also picked up these sweet little dolls that I'd like to try and do something with.

Miniature Cat Tree

diy miniature cat tree

I made a cat tree.  For the bottom two parts, I had to raid the kids' block bin again.  I wrapped twine from the Dollar Tree around the "pole".  The top part is a lid covered in felt.  The ball is a mini pompom.

Sorry, but that's the extent of my crafting this week.  I feel like I am barely keeping up.  I just need one really good day of mini making to produce enough to supply this blog for a while.  Keeps your fingers crossed for me!
