It Has Been A Little Bit

Dollar Tree miniatures

I picked up these at a Dollar Tree and decided I could paint them and use them in my minis.

Dollar Tree Miniatures redo

As soon as I find my white paint pen, I'll add his name to the dog bowl.  I also included some new tables I made in the picture.  They are much like the ones I made with bobby pin legs but the legs wouldn't stay on so I took two (out of the many) pizza centers "tables" I have, painted them black and used them as the bases.

I haven't worked much with new minis but will hopefully have more for you later.

Napkin Ring Tables

red top miniature table

I picked up these napkin rings at a local 2nd hand shop four for 50 cents and thought they'd make neat table bases.  I painted some wooden disks and glued them on.

I still have two more to do something with.

miniature lamp

I also finished the plastic Dollar Tree lamp.  I ended up painting it a similar color to what it already was and added a little black bead on top.  I think I still might change it again down the road and next time I think I will try painting it with nail polish.

I also wanted to let you all know that I will not be posting again until next Wednesday since we will be going to see the husband's family in Indiana this weekend.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend as well.

Taking Some Sick Leave

I am sick today and just don't wanna.  But I tried anyhow and it's not going as planned.

Painting a Dollar Tree Lamp

Remember that little lamp I bought at the Dollar Tree?  I'm trying paint it but my white paint I guess, is old, and not working.  #poutyface

I'm gonna have to see if I can take the white paint off and try another color.  But I think today, I am going back to bed.

And also pictured, my youngest brought me lunch to make me feel better.  Isn't she the sweetest.

More Dollar Tree Miniatures and Pictures from the Music Festival

Dollar Tree Miniatures

I made a few purchases at the Dollar Tree recently and thought I'd share my finding with you.  First thing I picked up was this little doll furniture set.  It's a different scale than what I do but I thought I could do something with the lamp.

Decor balls
I also picked up these little decorative balls.  They are about the size of a quarter.  I have no idea how I'll use them so if you all have some ideas, please share with the rest of the class.

ribbon
And last I found these ribbons which I just love.  I'm think pillows?  Maybe a table runner?  We'll see.

Last, I thought I'd share some of the pictures from the music festival this weekend:

Miniature Cat Tree

diy miniature cat tree

I made a cat tree.  For the bottom two parts, I had to raid the kids' block bin again.  I wrapped twine from the Dollar Tree around the "pole".  The top part is a lid covered in felt.  The ball is a mini pompom.

Sorry, but that's the extent of my crafting this week.  I feel like I am barely keeping up.  I just need one really good day of mini making to produce enough to supply this blog for a while.  Keeps your fingers crossed for me!

Kitchen Is Finished

miniature modern kitchen

It's still not what I had planned in my mind but I'm over it.  Too many frustrations.

miniature kitchen

I forgot to mention some things in the previous post about this project's progress.  The flooring for example is contact paper from the Dollar Tree.

diy miniature kitchen

The "corrugated metal" was some packing material my husband gave me that I painted and the sink's counter top is sandpaper.  The sink was a jelly container and the faucet was from a broken barbie toy.

diy shelf

I am going to keep the "brick" for a little longer because I have a bar in mind that I would like to make and I think the brick will suit the scene well.

Dollar Tree Minis

Dollar Tree Miniatures

I made another trip to the Dollar Tree and found some fun stuff for my miniatures.

  • The first thing is the makeup organizer.  Turned on it's side, I think I can use it in a shop or a bakery as a display shelf.
  • Then I found a pack of cats and dogs.  The dogs were too small but the cats look to be about the right size.
  • Of course when I saw the tiny clothes pins, I grabbed them up.  I am wanting to try and make one of those rooms out of an old detergent bottle here soon.
  • And last but not least the little boxes I picked up in the baby shower party favors, I think can be used as toy boxes in a nursery.

A New Chair and a New Bedroom Scene

miniature chair

I made a new chair out of a jewelry gift box and some scraps.  I don't have any dolls so this skeleton from the Dollar Tree is helping with the display.

miniature guitar

Another scene I put together with the new chair.  The guitar was on a chain pull for a fan.

miniature bedroom

I love how everything looks with the new walls and flooring in this new bedroom scene.

miniature plants

I can't keep plants alive in real life so I love having a bunch in my mini rooms.

Well, that's it for today.  Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

Another Miniature Lady's Bedroom

I really need to come up with better names for these miniature scenes.

miniature bedroom

I brought my mini screen back out and used the colors in it to create this bedroom scene.

Both of the dressers were from the Dollar Tree.  I made the lamps, the bottles and the tissue box.

miniature nightstand

The nightstand is a napkin ring with a mirror from a broken makeup compact.  I also made the bottle and book.

I should also mention that this is the same temporary room from previous posts, but I've added some paint to the walls and the carpet is some scrap carpeting from my husband's workplace.  And the carpet is removable if I ever want to change it out.

miniature bedroom scene

I made the bed using broken pieces and cardboard.  The bedding is a handkerchief and the orange blanket on the bench is a eye glass cleaning cloth also from the Dollar Tree.

My Mini Dollar Tree Finds

Dollar Tree Miniature Makings

Do you see what I did there?  Mini finds/many finds?  Haha, I think I'm punny.

Anyhow, it seems I find something every time I'm in the Dollar Tree but with my most recent visit, I feel like I found more than usual.

My favorite find would be the pill boxes.  I think I can cut the lids off and use them as mini wall shelving.  Maybe cut one off, paint and use as a jewelry box?

I also picked up some mini clear containers.  The ideas for those are almost endless.  I'm thinking I will try a mini terrarium first however.

And of course I picked up a pack of the mini Christmas drums.  And I'll probably be going back for the mini Christmas presents.

As for the cabinet liner, I'm thinking flooring.

The rolls of material will be great for pillows, bedding, furniture covering, curtains, etc.

And I always pick up the Eyeglass Cleaning Cloths when I see them in new colors because they are the perfect size and material type for miniature bedding and such.

What are some of your favorite miniature finds from the Dollar Tree?

Miniature Halloween Scene

miniature Halloween scene

I've had the idea in mind for some time now.  After I bought the witch at the Dollar Tree anyway.  Again, this is a temporary setting, just playing with the minis again.

miniature witch

She's just the right size.  I think I'll keep her.

miniature skeleton

I already had the skeleton from previous projects, but he too, was from the Dollar Tree.

Miniature Halloween party

The banner was made from old packaging.  And the bowl of candy are candy sprinkles.  And the chair was from the Dollar Tree.

miniature witch's shelf

Now for the shelf.  On top I have a crystal ball which is a marble with a bead base, a plant which was a cut off from a fish tank plant and a bead, and a small Christmas ornament with the top taken off and a washer for a base.

The second shelf, I have a handful of the tiny wreaths and another fish tank plant cut off and bead.

Third shelf, I little tea set (missing a piece however) and some bead bottles.

The fourth shelf, I had the clear one for a while, it came in a pack also from the Dollar Tree.  The other glass bottle I found at a yard sale for $1 and another bead bottle.  The large canister is another wooden bead with a button on top.  And then the books are just cut pieces of popsicle sticks with covers glued over.

Click on the pictures for a larger view and please let me know what you think of this room in the comments.
