13 Days of Halloween: Day 13

Happy Halloween!!!

My oldest daughter wanted to be a spider for Halloween.  So I made her some legs out of pipe insulation and I used zip ties to make the "joints".  Then I took some googly eyes and glued them to a head band.

And since shared my crown creation with you, I thought I'd show you my entire finished costume.

And last, because she's just too darn cute, my youngest, a dragon.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 12

We made 1/2 a man!  An old pair of the husband's pants, stuffed with plastic bags.  The top is spray foam, painted and covered in fake blood.  Unfortunately this is the only picture I have right now.  I just finished him but it is COLD and dark outside.  I will re-position him tomorrow and try to get better pictures to share with you.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 11

Not certain what you'd call this, but it was very simple to make and I like it.

I used a candle holder from the Dollar Tree...

As well as a skull, also from the Dollar Tree.

And I have a few of these small fancy hats that my mother-in-law gifted me a while back that I thought would look really cute.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 10...one day late...

I am so sorry for not posting yesterday.  The day just got away from me.  So I will be making two posts today to make up for it.

We had guts for dessert today!

We made some cinnamon rolls with a twist.  I simply added some red food coloring to the rolls before putting them in the oven and then also mixed the red food coloring with the icing.  I think they came out great!

13 Days of Halloween: Day 8

Face Paint

My husband and I had planned on going to a Halloween party this evening and our costumes were going to be my creation for the day but both of us ended up feeling sick and staying home.  So there was no crafting for me today.  However, I did pick up some face paint for the girls a while back and decided to let them get creative with that and I am sharing their craftiness with you instead.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 6

My Crown

My husband and I are going as a drowned pirate and a siren/mermaid.  I wanted a crown for my costume so I made one.

diy mermaid crown

I made it out of a crown from the Dollar Tree.  I also used some seashells that we had.  I hot glued them to the crown and painted it.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 5

Of course I had to do a miniature Halloween scene for one of my 13 days of Halloween crafts.

The base a is picture frame.

The shelf was made from a coffin box that I picked up at the Dollar Tree.

13 Days of Halloween: Day 4

I made a man eating plant!  I love it so much!  The base is a plant pot that I had filled with rocks and plant foam.  I had a dowel rod that I painted green.  The "head" is a football from the Dollar Tree that I cut part way through for the mouth.  I painted the inside black and the outside with a mix of green shades.  The "teeth" are from a couple plastic forks.  I had all the plants including the rose.  The eyeball is from a bag of eyeballs that I also picked up at the Dollar Tree.  I am very proud of how it came out!

13 Days of Halloween: Day 3

diy spider wreath

I wanted to make a Halloween themed wreath for our front door this year and this one was super easy to make.

What I used:

Wreath form
bandage
floss or string
spiders

I had everything already except for the wreath which I picked up at the Dollar Tree.  As for the floss, I couldn't find any string at home and didn't feel like going back to the store...hey, it worked.

13 Days of Halloween Crafts: Day 2

For the 2nd day of Halloween crafts my daughter's and I made these fun vampire teeth crayons from some of their old broken crayons.  I got the tray at the Dollar Tree.  We used a hair dryer to melt them. Be forewarned, this craft got messy.

13 Days of Halloween Crafts: Day 1 Junk Journals

I love Halloween!  It is my favorite time of year and for this year I have so many craft ideas (13 to be exact) that I thought I'd share them all with you.  So starting today and each day leading up to Halloween I will be posting a spooky craft!  Be sure to check back so you don't miss out!

For my first craft I made a couple of mini Halloween themed junk journals.  I used gift tissue paper over mini manila envelopes, coffee dyed papers and other wickedly cute embellishments.  Each journal has 40 pages and lots of tuck spots and pockets.
