More Michael's Hutches

Like I said before, I have many of them.  I'm using these two in the kitchen.

The first is only half of a hutch for which I plan to use a kitchen cabinet.  I filled it with a few homemade items with printed labels.

As for the full hutch, I've filled it with all the random kitchen supplies I've collected over the last year.

I made the cake dish on the tip with a button and a gulf tee.

And as for not buying anything for this project and only using what I have or making it myself...I couldn't help myself.  I found this at a flea market for 50 cents and the colors match and its just too perfect...

Its going right about the stove.

Starting on the kitchen

Now that the livingroom is done, I've started on the kitchen.  I removed the material the last owners used as wallpaper with a hair dryer (melted the glue and it pulled right off).  I painted and tiled the floor with some small tiles I got a while back in the clearance isle at Michael's Hobby Store.  It was my first time tiling mini so it came out a little crooked lol.  I'll have pictures soon.

And since I'm not buying anything new for the house (either using what I have or making it myself), I've started making the fridge, stove and sink.

I'll have an update soon.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for the 2nd floor room with the balcony?

Miniature livingroom

The living room is finished!  And I am quite pleased with the results.

What do you think?

Its the first room where I made the majority of the miniatures.

I'm always looking for the easy way of doing things.  So for the book on the end table, instead of folding and gluing a bunch of tiny paper, I cut a piece from a small note pad and covered it with scrapbook paper.

I had found a basket a while back that I knew was too big for the scale I do but thought I could find some use for it and I did.  A dog bed.  The dog is from one of those 50 cents toy machine outside Walmart (which I love).

I think I'm most proud of my chair.  It may not be perfect but it came out much better than I thought it would.

A view from the front door (which I still need to make, as well as the curtains).

I found a use for the little box I made.  I filled it with sea shells and placed it on the coffee table.  And for the fireplace grate....

Miniature Chair

I made a chair to go with the sofa.

Its made from one of the same blocks I used making the end tables and a bag of wood rectangles that I got from a hobby store.

Miniature End Tables and Lamps

I made some end tables for the livingroom.  3 of them.

I have some $1 shop dressers, like the one used in the Lady's Room, that were a little too big so I took off their legs and put them on plain square blocks I had and then painting them all white.

Then I made 3 little lamps, cut myself in the process so blood has officially gone in to making this dollhouse.

I made a mini box.  Not sure how I'm going to use it yet...

Miniature Sofa

I made a sofa out of some of that green planting foam aka desert foam....never doing that again.  It seemed easy in theory but really ended up being beyond frustrating.

The result:

Its not the best sofa ever but I'm using it out of spite for the green foam.

Oh and I made some pillows...with glue...because I don't sew.

Michael's Hutches

I've decided for this dollhouse that I am not going to buy anything new for it.  If I don't already have it (and I have plenty) then I will make it myself.

Luckily I went crazy with those little $1 hutches you can find at Michael's hobby store.  They are coming in quite handy.  I've broken two down to create 4 different pieces of furniture.  One will be a cabinet for the kitchen and one is now a fire place for the living room.  The other two pieces are undecided.

The Dollhouse Project Begins...

I have to admit I've been itching to renovate the dollhouse, I'm just glad someone agrees with me now.  I haven't quite figured out a plan of action yet.  Though I've already decorated the entire place in my mind.  I do know, however, that I am going to do the walls and floors on the inside first.  Then we'll take it from there.

Now, does anyone know how to remove the material the last owners used as wall paper?...

Also, some people, I've noticed, name their dollhouse and I so wanna too!  But what...
