13 Days of Halloween Crafts: Day 1 Junk Journals

I love Halloween!  It is my favorite time of year and for this year I have so many craft ideas (13 to be exact) that I thought I'd share them all with you.  So starting today and each day leading up to Halloween I will be posting a spooky craft!  Be sure to check back so you don't miss out!

For my first craft I made a couple of mini Halloween themed junk journals.  I used gift tissue paper over mini manila envelopes, coffee dyed papers and other wickedly cute embellishments.  Each journal has 40 pages and lots of tuck spots and pockets.

Still Here

I am sorry that I haven't been blogging much of late.  It has been very hectic around here.  So I thought I'd check in with you all to let you know what all I've been up to in my absence.  First, my husband's band participated in a local music festival called Bash In The Grass.  I have over 200 pictures from the 4 day festival but are sharing only some of my favorites:

My rockstar husband...

The next week was my youngest daughter's 6th, dinosaur themed birthday party for which I made all the decorations:

And that is why I haven't been miniaturing...yes, I just made it a verb...Also, just so you know, I've already started making party decorations for my oldest's mermaid themed birthday party for next month.  And my husband's band has another show and and and...I'm sure I'll find time soon to get back to it.  Keep you fingers crossed.

Trashy Junk Journal

trashy junk journal

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much.  I really haven't been working on my minis lately but instead, have been making mini junk journals.  For this last journal I made, I wanted to challenge myself to use as much trashy stuff as I could and the following is the result!

I started with a bag and box that one of my birthday freebies came in, some junk mail envelopes, tags and magazine cutouts.

This was the finished cover.  I did use washi tape throughout the journal but the rest was all trashy materials.

After cutting and sewing in two inserts, I used the scraps to make some embellishments.

The first card was from the box my birthday freebie came in.  The other side is blank for writing space.

I put all the leftover embellishments in a baggie and pinned it to the back cover.

I hope you enjoyed.

DIY Miniature Muffin Pan

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I am still here.  It's just that Summer is a very busy time for us with all the swimming, fishing, camping and much more.  However, I did find the time to make a mini for you.  I started out with a tray that comes with the Big Breakfast that you get from Mcdonald's.

I cut out a piece that looked about the right size for what I was wanting to do first.

This it the piece that I ended with.

Then I painted it with some metallic silver nail polish.

I am happy with the final result.  I may have to do another kitchen scene soon with the little collection I've started of diy miniature kitchen accessories.

Miniature Faux Butterfly Terrarium Display

Miniature Faux Butterfly Terrarium Display

So I had an idea...usually how my diy minis come about.  It started out with a clear lid off a small spray bottle.

I thought it would be great for one of those dome scenes.  I also used a button, my dried yellow flowers and some nail art stickers.

miniature table runner

The glue was still drying when I took the picture.  As for the new table runner, I bought it for 50 cents at a 2nd hand shop.  I believe it was a book mark in it's previous life.

Hope you enjoy my newest mini!  Have a blessed day!
